Jon Bernthal

Jonathan Edward Bernthal (born September 20, 1976) is an American actor. Born and raised in Washington D.C., he studied at The Moscow Art Theatre School before pursuing a career in professional baseball in the U.S. minor leagues and the European Professional Baseball Federation. He later achieved prominence for his portrayal of Shane Walsh on the AMC series The Walking Dead from 2010 to 2012. Bernthal is best known for his role as Frank Castle in Marvel's Cinematic Universe.

Early life

Bernthal was born in Washington D.C. to Joan (Marx) and Eric Bernthal, a lawyer. His grandfather was musician Murray Bernthal. He pursued higher education at The Moscow Art Theatre School in Moscow, Russia.

Career

Prior to acting, Bernthal played professional baseball in the U.S. minor leagues and the European Professional Baseball Federation. He gained recognition for his role as Shane Walsh on the AMC series The Walking Dead, which he portrayed from 2010 to 2012. He is widely recognized for his performance as Frank Castle within Marvel's Cinematic Universe. Additionally, Bernthal launched a production company named Story Factory alongside his father.
