Cecilia Cheung

Cecilia Cheung Pak-chi is a Hong Kong actress and singer. Born in Hong Kong to a Cantonese father and a half Cantonese-half British mother, she was sent to Australia for studies after her parents divorced when she was young. She graduated from RMIT Holmes College before beginning her career in 1998 with a television commercial advertising lemon tea. Cheung rose to fame for her role in the 1999 film King of Comedy and won Best Actress at the 23rd Hong Kong Film Awards for her performance in Lost in Time (2003).

Early life

Cecilia Cheung Pak-chi was born on 24 May 1980 in Hong Kong. Her father was Cantonese, while her mother was half Cantonese and half British. Her parents divorced when she was little, after which she was sent to Australia for studies. She graduated from RMIT Holmes College.

Career

Cheung's career began in 1998 when she appeared in a TV commercial advertising lemon tea. She rose to fame for her role in the 1999 film King of Comedy. In 2003, she won Best Actress at the 23rd Hong Kong Film Awards for her role in Lost in Time.
