Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman is an American actress and singer. Born on September 1, 1996, in Oakland, California, she began her career as a child model and dancer before achieving prominence through roles in Disney Channel sitcoms such as Shake It Up and K.C. Undercover. She later made her film breakthrough with the role of Michelle 'MJ' Jones in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and gained critical acclaim for her portrayal of Rue Bennett in the HBO series Euphoria, for which she won a Golden Globe Award in 2023.

Career

Coleman began her career as a child model and dancer. She starred in the Disney Channel sitcoms Shake It Up and K.C. Undercover, producing and starring as K.C. Cooper in the latter starting in 2015. Her film breakthrough occurred in 2017 when she starred as Michelle 'MJ' Jones in Spider-Man: Homecoming. That same year, she appeared in the musical drama film The Greatest Showman alongside Tom Holland, Hugh Jackman, and Zac Efron.

Coleman subsequently starred in Jon Watts’ Spider-Man trilogy and appeared in two films in the Dune franchise. She stars in the HBO show Euphoria, a performance for which she received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. In 2023, she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Drama at the 80th Golden Globe Awards. Additionally, she appeared in Elvis Mitchell's documentary Is That Black Enough for You?!? in 2022.
