Henry Cavill

Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill is a British actor. He gained wide recognition for portraying Superman in the DC Extended Universe from 2013 to 2023, beginning with the film Man of Steel. His career began after he was encouraged to act professionally by Russell Crowe at age 16. More recently, he has starred in the series The Witcher, which began in 2019.

Early life

Cavill was born on May 5, 1983, in St. Helier, Jersey, a British Crown dependency in the Channel Islands. His mother, Marianne (Dalgliesh), is of Irish, Scottish and English ancestry. His father, Colin Richard Cavill, is of English origin and was born in Chester, England. He attended Stowe School in Buckinghamshire, England.

Career

At age 16, Cavill met Russell Crowe on the set of Proof of Life, who encouraged him to act professionally. He gained wide recognition for portraying Superman in the DC Extended Universe from 2013 to 2023. His role as Superman began with the film Man of Steel in 2013. He reprised the role of Superman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017). Other notable credits include The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015) and Mission: Impossible—Fallout (2018). He starred in the series The Witcher, which began in 2019.
